IRCTC Down: Users Facing Issue While Booking Tatkal Tickets
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has faced a major outage affecting its services including Online booking, cancellation, instant ticket booking Ticket booking could not be done on Monday due to IRCTC website being down. The outage is affecting IRCTC’s website and app on Monday 9 December.
Travellers are facing huge disruptions and problems, especially those who want to book Tatkal Tickets. Users encountered several problems, including making payments, hindering transactions, and booking tickets. Some also reported issues in receiving and viewing their tickets.
People are complaining about IRCTC being down on Twitter. However, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has not acknowledged about the issue so far. When you login at IRCTC’s website, you will witness a message that says ‘DownTime’. The message says ‘Due to maintenance work, the e-ticketing service will remain closed for the next 1 hour’.

This is the third time the IRCTC website has gone down. The first incident happened on 9 December with similar messages displayed on the website. However, the second incident happened on 26 December. Users complained about the issue on X(Twitter), some suggesting it to be a cyberattack.
To recall, the maintenance of the IRCTC website takes place during the night, usually at 11 PM. But as soon as users started booking Tatkal tickets at 10 AM, they started receiving maintenance messages. Some users also said that the IRCTC has the most pathetic service and suggested that IRCTC handle the traffic more competently rather than displaying maintenance messages on the website.
Downdetecter, a website responsible for monitoring outages on online platforms also detected a significant disruption at the IRCTC website. It reported and confirmed the spike in problems during morning hours. In addition, multiple users also reported about the price hike in premium tickets which is available at double the standard rates.
