Air India introduces in-flight WiFi services; Here are the details

The issue of people not being able to use their data on flights has prevailed for a long time now. However, things were expected to change with the alteration in law. Pretty recently, the government of India allowed WiFi connectivity on flights. And Air India became the first one to implement the same by introducing its in-flight WiFi service. All the flyers can now stay connected to the internet while on a flight.

Air India in-flight WiFi service details

According to the Flight and Maritime Connectivity (Amendment) Rules, 2024, WiFi will be allowed on flights once they reach a minimum altitude of 3000 meters. All the users will be able to access WiFi via their smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Talking about the current scenario, the Air India WiFi service is only available on domestic flights like Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and a few Airbus A321 Neo planes. It has been claimed by Air India that they will soon bring the services to more aircraft.

Coming to the details necessary for the flyers, the in-flight WiFi service will be complimentary in the introductory time frame, after that, charges will be levied for the same. The users will be allowed to connect multiple devices to the available network. The plane is supposed to attain a height of 10,000 feet or above for the service to work. Air India also ran pilot programs for the service to Paris, New York, London, and Singapore.

Choosing the same or connecting to Air India in-flight WiFi is not a tough task as well. You just need to open WiFi settings on your device and then choose Air India. Now, you will taken to the Air India WiFi portal where you will be supposed to enter your last name and PNR number. After following the process, your device will be successfully connected to the network.
